Civil Engineering Department
a. General Information of Department
Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as buildings, roads, dams, canals, effluent treatment plants etc.
Aim of a Civil engineering fraternity is to improve the standard of life of human beings by providing physical means for human activities. The existence of creations of Civil engineer can be felt from building, roads, dams, canals and all structures.
It is one of the oldest discipline addressing basic needs of water, shelter and food. It grooms civilization by providing the basic infrastructure for the businesses, industries, and organizations dealing with health, education and entertainment.
The Civil Engineering Department of CWIT started in the year 1957. The Department conducts Diploma in Civil Engineering since its inception. The Department had conducted for employed diploma holders, the Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Part Time Degree Program in Civil Engineering from 1983 to 2014.

- Multi Point Entry and Credit System (MPECS) w.e.f. June 1998.
- Semester pattern.

- Continuous assessment system
- Well qualified & experienced faculty.
- Well equipped laboratories with modern equipments: Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Concrete Technology, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Surveying.
- Availability of application softwares: Autocad, Revit, Liscad, Hit Office.
- Free access departmental library with periodicals, brochures & more than 600 technical books,
- Ample use of Power Point presentations, 35mm slides, charts, models in teaching learning process
- Real to life exercises almost in all subjects
- Offers academic projects to students in thrust/emerging areas.
- Technical visits, expert lectures, overnight survey projects, short term training programs, personality development & value education programs, treks, educational tours are the regular activities with the Department.
- Encouragement to students to participate in technical seminars, workshops, conferences, competitions, social, cultural & sports activities.
- Internship training program.
